Spanish for “The Enchanted Hill”, La Cuesta Encantada was so named by William Randolph Hearst atop which he would go on to build his magnificent estate between 1919 and 1947. At the base of the painting we see Heart’s Chief Architect Julia Morgan looking over blueprints with Hearst. Above their heads we see a montage of images celebrating not only the beauty of various locations throughout, most famously the Neptune Pool, but also the hard work of the many hands that went into the castle’s construction.
